Frequently Asked Questions for Ordering Court Records

By rule, all Chancery Court proceedings are digitally recorded. Barring technical issues, a digital audio recording of each proceeding held on or after March 30, 2026 is available for purchase through this service.

Automated speech-to-text output is also available for most proceedings held on or after September 21, 2026.

A certified transcript is not produced automatically. One becomes available only if the court or a party has arranged for a certified court reporter to prepare one, either by live reporting the proceeding or by preparing a transcript from the digital audio recording.

By statute, “[t]he privacy of those who have established a trust shall be protected in any judicial proceeding concerning the trust.”  Wyo. Stat. § 4-10-205. Accordingly, records of judicial proceedings concerning trusts are not part of the public record. They are available only to “the court, the settlor, any fiduciary, any qualified beneficiary, their attorneys, and any other interested person as the court may order upon a showing of need.” Id.

Under this statutory directive, audio recordings and automated speech-to-text output from trust proceedings are available only to persons authorized by Wyo. Stat. § 4-10-205. To access the records, you must provide proof of your statutory entitlement before this service fulfills any order.

If a certified court reporter live-reported your proceeding and prepared a certified transcript, the certified transcript is the official transcript of the proceeding. You should obtain a copy of that transcript from the court reporter rather than through this service.

You may still order the digital audio recording and, if available, the automated speech-to-text output through this service for your convenience. The audio recording and speech-to-text output do not replace the certified transcript, which remains the official record.

If a proceeding was not live-reported, a party may arrange for a court reporter to prepare a certified transcript of a digital audio recording either through this service or by directly contracting with a private certified court reporter and providing that reporter with the audio recording purchased through this service.

A certified transcript produced by live reporting or from a digital audio recording constitutes the official court record of a proceeding. Absent a certified transcript, the digital audio recording constitutes the official record in chancery. Automated speech-to-text output never constitutes an official transcript or record.

No. A digital audio recording may not be submitted to the Wyoming Supreme Court in lieu of a certified transcript.

If a proceeding is designated for inclusion in the record on appeal, it must be transcribed and certified by a court reporter, and the transcript must be designated, filed, and transmitted in accordance with the Wyoming Rules of Appellate Procedure.
